Post: Iron Fork 2017 and Miami Spice Kickoff Returns

New Times’ Iron Fork, presented by the Downtown Development Authority, returns for a ninth year bigger and better than ever, with a new location, more delicious food, and an epic battle between two of Miami’s finest chefs.

Thursday, July 28, at 7 p.m., Miami foodies will flock to the American Airlines Arena to sample delicacies from more than 70 of Miami’s favorite restaurants, including the Rusty Pelican, Morton’s the Steakhouse, Apeiro Kitchen & Bar, Cibo Wine Bar, and many others to be announced.

Iron Fork, in partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, features many restaurants participating in Miami Spice. That means you can get an exclusive preview of many top eateries and make your very own must-try Spice list.

The main event is the exciting Iron Fork chefs battle, where two of Miami’s top toques take center stage to face off in a competition of skill, fire, and knives. Last year, MC Kitchen’s Dena Marino sparred with Finka Table & Tap’s Eileen Andrade in a test of endurance and wit. Marino emerged victorious, taking home the coveted Skillet of Excellence. This year’s chefs will be announced at a later date.

Iron Fork is not only fun but also charitable. The event’s charity partner is Share Our Strength. The organization’s No Kid Hungry campaign seeks to end childhood hunger in America by ensuring that all children get the healthful food they need every day. One hundred percent of all money raised at Iron Fork’s charity auction will go to No Kid Hungry. In addition, unused food from participating restaurants will benefit Feeding South Florida. Tickets go on sale to the general public Monday, March 28, but New Times readers can buy tickets today at a special discounted price. Beginning at 10 a.m., presale tickets cost only $40 for general admission (normally $45). GA tickets include unlimited samplings, live entertainment, and the awesome Iron Fork competition. Presale VIP tickets cost $70 (normally $80) and include early entry at 6 p.m., exclusive restaurant samplings, live entertainment, and beer, wine, and spirits.
